How to Save Money on Your Auto Insurance Policy

By now you have realized that you must have an auto insurance policy. Now you have to figure out to afford that pricey policy. We have a few ideas on how you can make your auto insurance more affordable.

Drive less than 7,500 miles per year. Insurance companies will always ask how many miles you drive per year. The fewer miles you drive the less chance that you have of ever being in an accident. Try taking public transportation more often. Most large cities provide major public transportation and many people actually enjoy doing this instead of driving themselves.

Check your credit report often. Some insurance companies have the right and ability to check your credit score when applying for a new policy. If you have a low credit score, the insurance company is running the risk that they might not get paid. In order for the company to protect themselves, they will start your policy off with a much higher insurance rate or require you to pay a down payment for your auto insurance.
Increasing your deductible will also lower your monthly car insurance payment. Setup yourself up to where you are comfortable paying the higher deductible if something where to happen that required you to pay the deductible. In the long run, a high deductible can save you loads of money.

Another thing that can save you a lot of money is your location. If the insurance company feels that your vehicle is parked in a hazardous location then they may significantly increase your car insurance rate. Before you settle into a place, check your local police department to find out the crime rate and how many stolen vehicles that are reported on a monthly basis. If it seems a bit high then avoid moving to that location.
